Hackney Children’s Choir

HCC is for children aged 8-12 in years 3-7. The choir performs regularly in St Paul’s Cathedral, and in recent years has made two professional recordings and performed in the Royal Albert Hall. The choir has a repertoire spanning 400 years in diverse styles - from the Carmina Burana to Handel’s Messiah. The social bonds made through music are just as important as the notes themselves, and HCC prides itself on creating a place where children can flourish. We recruit children from 10 partner primary schools and the local community.

The Hackney Children’s Choir is proudly supported by the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. We are grateful to the Officials of the Order for their encouragement and support.

Hackney Senior Choir

HSC is a new choir for the borough of Hackney for 12-18 year olds who love music. We are a thriving musical team, striving for excellence, and motivated to provide life-changing opportunities.

We draw young people from a number of secondary schools and the local community, and provide a safe environment in which all are accepted and valued. We are a vibrant and diverse community in which young people are encouraged to participate as active citizens.

We create enriching experiences – whether they be in the recording studio, in concert, or on residential holiday schemes in the countryside.

We are keen to hear of young people who love to sing – and you don’t need to play an instrument or read music to apply. Places are subsidised thanks to funding from the Mayor of London.

hackney choral courses

We provide unrivalled holiday courses in Easter and summer, led by professional musicians who can get the best out of young people. They are immensely fun, and culminate in a concert or performance. Each day starts with breakfast from 08:30, and includes afternoon activities including sports and games.

We receive generous support from The Mayor's Young Londoners Fund, which helps children and young people to fulfil their potential, particularly those at risk of getting caught up in crime. It supports a range of education, sport, cultural and other activities for children and young people.
