Holiday Courses

hackney senior choir

HSC is for 12-18 year olds who love music. We are a thriving musical team, striving for excellence, and motivated to provide life-changing opportunities.

We draw young people from a number of secondary schools and the local community, and provide a safe environment in which all are accepted and valued. We also encourage young people to become active citizens.

We create enriching experiences – whether they be in the recording studio, in concert, or on holiday schemes.

The choir has performed at The Albert Hall and St Paul’s Cathedral, and regularly gives concerts to raise awareness and funds for charitable causes. The choir has collaborated with English Touring Opera in staging Bach’s St John Passion at the Hackney Empire.

We are keen to hear of young people who love to sing – and you don’t need to play an instrument or read music to apply.

Hackney Children’s Choir

HCC is for children aged 8-12 in years 3-7. The choir performs regularly in St Paul’s Cathedral, and in recent years has made professional recordings and performed in the Royal Albert Hall. The choir has a repertoire spanning 400 years in diverse styles - from the Carmina Burana to Handel’s Messiah. The social bonds made through music are just as important as the notes themselves, and HCC prides itself on creating a place where children can flourish. We recruit children from 10 partner primary schools and the local community.

The Hackney Children’s Choir is proudly supported by the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. We are grateful to the Officials of the Order for their encouragement and support.

our holiday courses

We provide unrivalled holiday courses during the school holidays led by professional musicians who can get the best out of young people. Courses are immensely fun, and culminate in a concert or performance.

On our summer course, you will learn to sing beautiful harmonies from some of the best musicians in the country!

This exciting course for 8 -18 year olds uses the Choral Tradition to come together and sing, have fun, and learn new skills. You’ll learn music from 19th century Paris to 21st century London.
